Corporate history

1937 Company founded in Remscheid by Max and Ernst Heynen
1945 Entry into the automotive sector – first processing and later also production of hand tools
1948 Expansion of the production site in Remscheid
1961 Ernst-Peter Heynen joins the company
1961 Startup of HEYCO-WERK SÜD in Tittling/Lower Bavaria as production plant for handtools
1973 Foundation of the HEYCO-subsidiary Shamrock Forge & Tools in Ballina/Republic of Ireland
1980 CARL STEINMANN KUNSTSTOFFVERARBEITUNG GMBH becomes a HEYCO subsidiary
1980
  Diversification into plastics and forging technology

1981 Production start at Derschen, Rhineland-Palatinate
1982 Expansion of production by plastic injection molding process

            
1990 Diversification into adjacent areas of plastics applications
1994 Establishing a design and development department at Tittling


1995 Establishing HEYCOTEC spol. s.r.o. / Czech Republic as a manufacturing site
for hand tools and technical plastic products
1997 New production focus at the Derschen plant on technical plastic products, including soft-feel coatings and laser engravings
1998 Turnover: 125 Mio. DM in two business areas and four business segments,
three German and two European production sites
1998 Nicola Heynen joins the Company
2000 Start of IMD- production at Remscheid Bergisch Born

2000 Production site established at Pisek, Czech Republic
2002 The family-owned company has developed into today’s HEYCO-group with production sites in Europe and over 800 employees.  Leading the company are the sons of the founder and –in the third generation - Markus Heynen.
2004 Acquisition of a new production site at Remscheid / Bergisch Born
2005 Ernst-Peter Heynen joins the Management Board of the corporation. Transfer of management responsibilities to Markus Heynen and Gerhard Voß.
2005 Introduction of forging robots for stabilizers at the Tittling production site.
2005 Beginn der Roboterschmiedung für Stabilisatoren am Standort Tittling
2006 Installation of transfer forging presses and production launch of high-tech safety components for the automotive industry
2007 Startup of the new hammer line 6 with 63,000 kN
2008 Inbetriebnahme der neuen CNC- Center sowie Aufbau der neuen Prägepresse mit 2.000 t.
2008 Startup of the new CNC centre and installation of the new 2,000 t stamping press.
2009 Ernst-Peter Heynen transfers his position as Head of the HEYCO Management Board to Markus Heynen. He steps up to the position of Supervisory Board Chairman.
2010
Acquisition of a CNC-measuring machine and an innovative temperature cycling testing facility for the Tittling site (dept. plastics).
2011 Expansion of the Remscheid/ Bergisch Born production site for new injection moulding activities
2011 New 10-chamber–test bench for coolant expansion tanks at the Tittling site (plastics)
2012 Startup of a new 2,500 t forging press and launch of robotic forging
2012
Extension of CNC-production and tooling department
2013
